The map is one of the key elements in Munzee, since it allows players to scout out, search for, and track down munzees in their area. You can access the Munzee map both online and on your phone when logged into your profile.
All About the Web Map
The Munzee Web Map will appear as follows, demonstrating real world streets and places and the corresponding physical and virtual munzee game pieces based on your current location.
Our very own Professor Vardeman has created a video all about the new features that come with the web map! Grab some popcorn and hit play!
To access the map, simply go to https://www.munzee.com/map. (Make sure that you are logged into your online munzee profile!) The Munzee map is highly beneficial to look at in order to be aware of what munzees are in your area. Players also use it to scout out Bouncers in order to pick them up before they make their timed departure. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Fortunately the map can be made far more accessible in munzee-dense areas with the help of filters.
If you look at the map, you will find a panel on the right side of the window (if you don't see it, you may need to click the little transparent dark green [<] tab) that contains filter options, such as "Owned On" and "Captured On." If you switch from [Deploy/Plan] mode to [Advanced], you'll see the same variety of filter options as we had on our previous map versions.
Clicking on these options will filter the map appropriately in order to make it easier to search for specific munzees. Note that you can click on multiple filters at the same time. If you do not see something on the map that you wish to see, be sure that the appropriate filters are turned on.
Additionally, in the top right corner you will find the “Permalink," in both [Deploy/Plan] mode and [Advanced] mode. Clicking the button to the left of the text box will copy the link to the munzee map for the area you are currently seeing on your screen. This can be used to share with your friends or save as a bookmark.
If you are on [Advanced] Mode, there are a few extra Sandbox options:
[Add Sandbox Pin] puts a "draft munzee" on the map that you can move around and click on to use as a quick deploy. You can add multiple Sandbox Pins and play around with their configuration. When you are happy with it, click [Save] to save your Sandbox to your browser's local storage. That way, the next time you return to the map, you can click [Load] to show your Sandbox Pins on the map again. [Show List] will open a new tab showing a list of the Sandbox Pins and their coordinates, which you may find useful to print out if you are planning Physical Deploys.
You will also find an option in the bottom right corner to select between “Street” and “Satellite.” Above these buttons, you will also see a plus and minus sign, which can be used to zoom in and out on the map accordingly.
The options of "Street" and "Satellite" will affect how the map appears. You can view the different looks below of the same map pictured in both Street (top) and Satellite views:
You can also use the search tool in the upper left corner to search for a specific location on the map where you wish to see munzees.
Several Things to Note
1. The map will show you which Munzees you’ve captured or deployed. You also have the option to filter out your captured and deployed munzees by using the filter buttons on the right side of the map.
2. You can set a home location to save you time! Setting a home location will pre-zoom the map to one that approximates your neighborhood, burough, town, or county. You can change your home location in your Player Profile’s “Settings” section.
3. You can view special munzees on the map. In order to view specials, visit https://www.munzee.com/specials. Like the main map, the specials map will offer options for filtering, searching, using satellite view, etc. You can see an image of this map below.
