This is step one in Getting Started: NEXT: Logging In
Munzee is compatible with both Android and iOS systems. To create an account and get started with the game, the first step is to download the app on your phone.
For the Google Android platform (see supported Android Devices) you can get it from Google Play.
For the Apple iOS platform (see supported iOS devices) you can get it from the iTunes App store.
The app uses your phone’s GPS and either data or wifi to log your captures to our servers and give you points. The GPS location is used to ensure you’re actually at the location of the game piece and thus not cheating.
Once you’ve read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy then you’ll need to fill out the following Signup form on the app:
PLEASE NOTE: Your username can be changed as of March 20, 2023 via the Settings page on the website, but it will cost 1,000 Zeds. Choose wisely as it is also listed on the rankings and leaderboards, the capture feed of other users, and with every game piece you deploy. Your username will also have to be unique from other players so get creative!
Next you need a password. The usual recommendations apply about picking something reasonably secure, but if you ever need to change your password you can do so at https://www.munzee.com/forgotpassword.
Munzee also needs a valid and working email address before you can play. You can configure some options for when the game will email you in your personal preferences.
The rest of the form is pretty standard. Once you’re happy, press the signup button. The form may fail if you’ve picked a username that someone else is already using. If that happens, try something else creative and re-submit. If you still have trouble, please submit a support ticket and we’ll see if we can help you out. No unique characters are allowed, only numbers and letters.
That’s all you will need to do to create your account!
If you’re not sure where to begin from there, don’t panic! Creating a new account will automatically prompt the new player tutorial, hosted by everyone’s favorite unicorn, Cappy!
