There are limitless ways to hide a munzee QR code sticker! We don't want to ruin any creative ideas, so here are a few common ways of hiding munzee game pieces. Feel free to think outside of the box, but be mindful of the Player Code of Conduct.
Places to Deploy:
Backs Of Signs
There are a wide variety of different signs that are great for hiding munzees including stop signs, speed limit signs, street signs, and more! These are very popular to deploy on in more urban areas. We also have specially designed Urban Camo Munzees that are designed to be easier to blend into urban settings so that they are not removed.
Often indicated by the abbreviation “Lp,” lamp posts or light poles, are a popular spot to deploy munzees. If you come across a physical munzee hotspot, you can often find many lamp posts in a large parking lot each with a sticker. Be sure to check all lamp posts in your vicinity if you can’t find a munzee with an “Lp” note on your first try.
Many people enjoy deploying munzees in an area they frequent in order to introduce fellow players to quality spots around town. Under park benches is a great spot to deploy a munzee, because it gets people out and exploring nature while also providing a little challenge to actually finding the munzee. And since you don’t have to worry about the dangers of traffic in parks, it’s perfectly fine to make people search around a bit to locate the Munzee hidden under a bench. (In a high traffic area, it can be dangerous to have to search around for a tricky to find munzee.)
Tree Tags in Wooded Areas
Some players enjoy posing a challenge, while others enjoy the adventure of searching for a partially concealed game piece. To grow the game out into the wild, tree tags can be used to hang munzees from branches. When created with quality materials and deployed correctly, tree tags will likely last longer than stickers on light poles and signs due to their remote/hidden deploy. To make tree tags easier to find, be sure to deploy them someplace visible and keep in mind how the growth of the tree or seasonal changes might alter the location.
Unique Areas of Your Community
Is there an area of your community that you think others might enjoy? Perhaps it’s a mom and pop shop (with the owner’s permission) that you want to deploy a munzee near to enlighten players about local finds. Or maybe it’s your favorite gazebo that you think people passing through town might want to check out. While it’s important to make sure that you aren’t deploying on private property, there are many areas around town that you can deploy munzees in order to introduce your favorite haunts to players.
Misc. Industrial Equipment
From green “Booger Boxes” to transformers, to water meters, there is a variety of industrial equipment just waiting for a munzee. With the help of an Urban Camo Munzee sticker, these munzees blend in, even in plain sight. (Of course, make sure that you’re not deploying on anything that is actually dangerous!)
Things to Consider
When deciding where to deploy your munzee, keep in mind that many players deploy in easy to see locations rather than trying to “hide” their munzees. This allows their munzees to be captured with ease, which earns more CapOn points for the owner of the munzee.
Be sure to write a note once you’ve deployed your munzee offering hints as to where the munzee is located. For example, a munzee deployed at a lamp post will often be noted as “LP,” or if the munzee is on the back of a sign, you can simply indicate “Back of sign” to make it easier for others to cap. You can check out our list of Munzee Terminology to understand more game specific abbreviations and terms.
The Freeze Tag Online Store is your one-stop shop to purchase Munzee game pieces! There are tons of different types of munzees, many of which are available year round.
Our Munzees are made with high quality vinyl with a thin layer of laminate to provide durability no matter the elements. They come in a variety of different options, such as Mystery Munzees, Seasonal Munzees, Physical Evolutions, and Jewel Munzees.
Urban Camo Generics are designed to help the munzees camouflage in urban areas so that they are not taken down. These designs include a variety of different themes like CCTV, electrical equipment, no smoking signs and more! We also offer Mini Urban Camo Generics for more stealthy deploying.
Printed game pieces & some common variations:
You can print your own generic munzees for free, but remember that these will need to last for a long time. When printing your own game pieces, you MUST be careful to keep the game piece weatherproof so that the code will be able to be scanned. No scans = no fun and no points!
