Welcome to Gauntlet Games! While Munzee offers the opportunity for individual competitive gameplay via ZeeOps, Gauntlet Games provides the chance to compete as groups in order to play as a team, complete challenges, and unlock rewards. Throughout the following Help Guide articles you will find comprehensive information walking you through all aspects of Gauntlet Games, but first allow us to outline some basic aspects of Gauntlet Games gameplay.
General Information
Guilds are formed with multiple players, with a maximum of 10 players allowed per guild. Previously it was required that all guilds had exactly 10 players in order to collect rewards, but guilds are now welcome to compete with fewer players if desired. However, if you wish to compete with fewer players, you will still be required to meet the same requirements as full 10-player guilds. The individual and group requirements will remain the same regardless of the number of players in the guild, so smaller guilds will require players overall doing more work.
Once Gauntlet Games has commenced for the month, players will not be able to leave the guild until the current month’s gauntlet game has concluded. However, players who are not in a guild are able to join a guild at any point during the month. Any activity done during the gauntlet game period will count towards the challenges once a player joins a guild, so any previous efforts during the month will not be in vain.
Gauntlet game periods start on the 3rd of each month at 00:01 MHQ time and conclude on the final day of the month at 23:59 MHQ time. Near the end of each month, The Gauntlet Guide will be released via the Munzee Blog specifying the individual and group requirements for each level of Gauntlet Games. The app will also show the upcoming challenges once The Gauntlet Guide has been released. The rewards for completing each level of Gauntlet Games for the month will also be revealed. However, information about Level X (if there is one that month) will always remain secret.
Gauntlet Games Levels and The Gauntlet Guide
Each month has 6 levels that guilds can compete to conquer, with guilds determining their monthly goal amongst themselves prior to the start of each month’s Gauntlet Games. While some guilds wish to seek the highest level, others have lower level goals set. Therefore it is important for players to join guilds that have similar goals in mind.
The monthly requirements will vary, but they largely include both individual and group components needed to be achieved in order to move up between the levels. Though each level has group requirements, guilds will not be able to level up if individual requirements for each player are not also met. That means a guild is often only as strong as its weakest link, though many guilds only aspire to reach a certain level each month.
In the past, some months also featured a hidden Level X. This level will never have its requirements revealed, even after the month has concluded, though the requirements were always elevated versions of Level 5 requirements. Level X is intended for elite Gauntlet Games players who seek an additional monthly challenge. Like all levels, it is an entirely optional challenge. Once the secret requirements are fulfilled for Level X, the level will appear in the app allowing you to collect the rewards, otherwise it will remain hidden.
Rewards, Badges, and Borders
Rewards for each level vary every month and are announced along with the requirements. They often include a mixture of different prizes, including Gauntlet Weapons. Currently we have seven Gauntlet Weapon Munzees that are often earned via guild rewards. These special munzees include the physical Mace, Longsword, Battle Axe, and Hammer, and the virtual Crossbow, Catapult, and Shield. Munzee Catapults will also release Boulders onto greenies for additional capping opportunities.
Players also have the opportunity to earn Gauntlet Games exclusive badges. Each month will feature the chance to earn monthly Leaderboard badges that will be awarded at the conclusion of every month to guilds who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd each month. There are also monthly badges that players can earn each time they level up in Gauntlet Games. These badges will be awarded for every level completed in Gauntlet Games, including Level X, and will be different each month.
Additionally, there are new themed borders will now appear around your guild image, with a number of stars to indicate and show off the current level of your guild. They appear as follows:
